I want to chew on the meaning of the visit to the British aircraft carrier Queen Elizabeth. The time is approaching when China, which is unilaterally changing the status quo in the East China Sea and South China Sea, will bare its fangs at Taiwan, the Senkakus, and Okinawa. The U.S., Australia, India, and the U.K. are concerned about this, and are sounding the alarm for their friendship and for Japan. The Kan administration has not even been able to establish an administrative marker for Ishigaki City in the Senkakus. Now is the time for a prime minister who can stand firm and take a stand.
